Saint Thomas the Rebel
Born into a rich and decadent family, Thomas shirked the family tradition of indulging in every imaginable earthly pleasure by proclaiming that he wanted to become a monk.
His mother, the formidable Countess Theodora, was so upset over her son’s rebellion that she locked 17-year-old Thomas in a tower and had his brothers send in a stark-naked prostitute to tempt him to indulge in fleshly pleasures.
Thomas drove the temptress away and vowed to focus all his energy on scholarly pursuits.
Saint Thomas the Scholar
Thomas succeeded in earning a doctorate degree at the University of Paris in spite of being labeled “slow” and “stupid” by his childhood teachers. He went on to become one of the most influential theologians and philosophers in the history of the Church, earning the Church’s highest intellectual honor: “Doctor of the Church.”
Saint Thomas may be best known for his written masterpiece titled “Summa Theologica.” Thomas achieved that which every student hopes for. When asked what he was most grateful to God for, he answered: “I have understood every page I ever read.”

How to Ask Saint Thomas for Help
Taking an exam is never easy. Study hard then invoke Saint Thomas's assistance by doing the folowing:
- Fast for 24 hours before the exam. During the fast, study hard and pray to Saint Thomas to help you on your exam (he will pray to God on your behalf).
- Gather seven red flowers and as many small taper candles as you have exam subjects.
- Place the flowers and candles before a picture of Saint Thomas and let them burn down.
- Place the remnants of the candles in a white cloth and carry them to the exam in your pocket.
- Before leaving for the exam, say this prayer to Saint Thomas: "Blessed Saint Thomas, please listen to my plea. I ask for your help to make sure that my memory does not fail me, and that my nerves remain calm, so I may be successful on my exam. I trust in your influence, O Blessed Saint Thomas."
If you are successful on your exam, thank Saint Thomas by giving a poor child some clothes, toys, or food.
